Condition: One scallop has a small flat chip on the inside edge which is barely visible. The one rib in top row of panels directly below the wafer also has a small chip. The balance of the piece is free of chips, cracks and fleabites.
There are a few feint marks from use or storage visible under close scrutiny, none visible without close inspection. The foot has slight shelf wear.The glass is wonderfully clear and has a light glow under UV light. This listing is for an Antique, Nickel Plate Glass Frosted Circle Cake Stand or Pedestal Cake Plate. Frosted Circle was introduced by Nickel Plate circa 1890 and continued while under US Glass in 1891. The pattern is also known as Clear Circle and Horn of Plenty. It features large round circles with a central star burst with lines swirling outwards creating a cornucopia design. The cake plate has a central rum well and raised scallop rim. The stem is a high standard attached by wafer with three sections of vertical panels. It is a fantastic piece of Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG).
