A stunning Flow Blue low pedestal cake plate/stand in the Nankin Jar pattern (Circa 1862), with the G. England makers mark and pattern name in cobalt blue on the bottom. It also could also be used as a base for a cheese keep, or other lunch and dessert items to serve from or cover with a dome. This pattern features a center design of a wide footed jar filled with peonies and dahlias. It is supported by a geometric band of some sort, with a little covered urn at the right.
It has a gothic-type border around the rim of bell-like forms, and more flowers and urns around the rim. The cobalt blue is bright and the finish still has its excellent original shine. The plate measures 12 in diameter, the base is 8 ¼ in diameter, and it is 2 ¼ tall. A unique English Flow Blue serving piece! There are no chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs.
It does have some normal very fine crazing and a few little manufacturing glaze misses/marks, but it has almost no utensil marks on it.
